Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading multi-disciplinary design and consulting firm for the built environment, is proud to announce that John Brew, P.E., a structural engineer in the firm’s Building and Industrial division, has been selected to receive the 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Outstanding Practitioner Advisor award for the eastern region. Given by the Eastern Regional Younger Member Council (ERYMC), the award recognizes Brew’s role as a Practitioner Advisor to Tennessee State University, serving as a link between the university and ASCE’s Nashville branch.
“John has done a great job representing ASCE and GS&P at Tennessee State University, a university that he attended and that he remains strongly committed to. Realizing the opportunity to give back to his alma mater has made John’s work at TSU extra special, and I am very glad that his efforts are being recognized,” said Mickey Sullivan, P.E., GS&P Regional Vice President. “It’s important to encourage students and young engineers as they prepare to enter our profession, and John’s role with ASCE provides an excellent opportunity for opening up those lines of communication.”
