Tennessee State University educators recently trained with experts from Washington University’s Center for Social Development to provide students of social work and other human service professions with culturally and historically relevant financial education.
Michael Wright, associate professor of social work at TSU, praised the FCAB initiative for starting its outreach with HBCUs and TCUs because these institutions so often have access to vulnerable and disadvantaged students that may lack crucial financial literacy skills.
“We learned about the initiative and received training to incorporate the FCAB curriculum into courses this fall,” Wright said. “Financial capability is central to what we’re calling success for clients.”
